We played our 2nd regular season game at 5:30 against the Angels. We had a few players out and only had 7 players at the game. The girls played their hearts out and we came out with a huge victory.
The final score was 18-14. It was a cool night ,but our girls focused (as much as 5 and 6 year olds can) and got the job done.
Our slamming 18 runs were a team effort. Every girl on the team got on base and had a hit.
Leading the force was Darby who went 5 for 5 during the game. Helping her out with 4 hits each were: Anna, Cassie, Whitney, and Kami. Ariana and Lilly contributed 3 hits each. Cassie had 2 home runs this game.
Our defense held the other team with a close last attempt from the Angels to come from behind. With 2 runners on the bases, the ThunderCats defense came to play. The girls then got the next 3 girls out. Anna, Darby, and Cassie connected for several outs at first base. Ariana and Lilly stopped balls in the infield to help keep the runners at 1 base. Kami and Whitney held down the outfield not letting any balls go through to the fence.
This game Coach Randy handed out the first Team "Hustle Award". It was presented to Darby who belted out 5 hits and stopped numerous balls at 2nd base.
